I have a cold

I have a cold because I packed more action into this past weekend than my body was really up for. First, I participated in the "Whitefish Whiteout" (recreational division, not the one where speedsuits were the norm). This was a "ski mountaineering" race. Although I did the easier division, I still got last place, which was because I largely side-slipped (which is not skiing but more like tenously making it down in the slowest manner possible sideways) the black diamond downhill run, but I had fun.

Dave and Amber did really well, I hope they don't kick me off the C Team

You can't hurry 69

It's hard to tell but there were a lot of speed suits (spandex unitards)

I also competed in a roller derby meet -- I went almost straight from the mountain to the bout venue.  This in of itself wasn't too physically taxing, other than falling down a lot, but the part where we stayed out really late afterwards probably did me in.  Evidently, I'm no longer 21.

I'm wearing the red helmet

Roller derby is not unlike playing dress up as a little kid
Nonetheless, I got up and did a little XC skiing with Ted early-ish and then met up with my Canadian buddy Brenda for some skiing.  She convinced me to try a difficult black diamond tree run and while I made it down it was probably something she regretted.  I became paralyzed by fear of falling in a tree well (death traps made by our pondorosa pines and snow) and spent some time engaged in a mental breakdown.
Some snowboarders did this to Jesus, not us

It was a great weekend but no surprise that my not-so-young-anymore body is revolting.  Almost everything I did  this weekend was pretty random and outside the real of anything I would have ever thought I would ever do, even a year ago.  I hope this keeps my mind young despite the truth my body speaks.

Jesus (npi), you have a packed weekend life! Well, it just reminds me not only that I am not 21, I am not even 31 anymore! Get better!!!

Hee hee. Oh, Danni. Here I was thinking you were physically exhausted after an epic Su training weekend and it turns out it was a ski mountaineering race and Roller Derby. It looks fun though — probably worth it.

Have fun skiing this weekend! We should still plan something for next weekend before tapering begins in earnest. (And hopefully you'll actually taper, and not drag your skis up mountains and stay up late partying with the Derby girls.)

I am quite familiar with your black diamond technique...side-slipping, paralyzing fear, total mental breakdown on the slope. Yep, that sounds about right. You are one busy bee and that's wonderful!

I love it, not that you got sick but all the adventures. I especially like reading and seeing (on FB) your roller derby stuff. It looks like a total blast! And...the outfits are awesome. Oh, the (not 21 anymore) thing starts to really present itself. :)

Thanks Cheryl!!! It's lingering. Stupid cold.

Olga you are like a 21 year old.

Jill, you already know I'm a lazy ultrarunner. Train? I do plan to train for SC100. I swear.

Paige, I'm glad someone can relate. Here everyone is an awesome skiier so it's embarassing.

Thanks Ronda!!! I am indeed having fun. You are like a 21 year old too. Crazy women. :p

It's all about F-U-N honey, good for you for getting after it. ALL of it! Love the photo with B! Now go take care of yourself. You've got sleds to pull in snowy places.
