Sad Anniversary

Thirteen years ago today I lost my mom.  What really gets me as the years pass is how young she was.  She was only 49 years old.  That's only 14 years older than I am now.  It's less than a decade older than Ted.  I am randomly grief-stricken still by her absence, though never on any particular day or for any predictable reason.  I think she would really like Montana (in August at least) and would be pleased by the life I'm leading.  I miss her.  She was pretty cool (though she would at times drive me nuts like any self-respecting mother does).  She would read my blog if she were around still.  I wonder though if she would sign up for Facebook.
To visit her necessitates a trip to Daytona, Florida

I'm guessing she'd be proud of you, too.

So tough. 49 is very young. I'm sure she'd be pleased with the life you're living.

That's young...I bet she'd be on FB following you around:)

Wow, she was only 5 years older than me. Makes me try to appreciate every day of life. I am sure she would be proud of you and be a frequent commenter on your blog! I lost my mom last year - our moms are smiling down and cheering for us!

Memories are never enough, are they?

Thanks guys. It's not like I'm the only person obviously to lose a parent. Most of us do eventually. It's still tough.

I think you're right about Montana in August... I think the winter's would be tough for a Florida girl. I think she would be amazed by what you do and completely supportive but a little curious about Sustina... :)

I know she would be very proud of you. How could any mother not. She did a great job and most certainly would be on FB giving your motherly grief. :)

Danni, wow. That was touching. I am so sorry. I love how you think about her liking Montana.

For my mom, the most important thing for her has been picturing where I live and liking it. My mom is also on Facebook, simply to follow my sister and me - so I have to agree with Olga there :).

Wonderful idea to write a tribute to her!
