I still intend to do a thorough post-Susitna gear post, but I just haven't had the motivation. I haven't had the motivation to do much of anything, really. The pain I experienced during Susitna on the fronts of my ankles is still there though slightly better. I think. It's hard to tell. It's not getting worse at least. Who knew that you could acquire an "overuse" injury in less than 40 hours? While it heals I'm trying to get to Crossfit (have gone once) and I've done a little skiing (did an awesome ski tour this weekend near GNP), snowshoe hiked with Ted and even rode the bike trainer once. I haven't tried roller skating or running -- that seems unwise so long as I still have pain. Skiing and snowshoeing are likely unwise too but hey... I have no good excuse. I plan to see a PT and explore active rehab options if it's not substantially better by next week. Super lame.

My primary March mission, or madness, is trying to clean up my diet. I've given up all booze for March (this the main thing, not that I'm a drunk but the IPAs sure add up) and am eating all my fruits and veggies each day and not overeating (which is surprisingly easy when I set my mind to it and make a conscious effort). This will be tough later in the month as work gets crazy and I have to spend a few weeks out of town, but hopefully I will at least have gotten in a few solid weeks of good nutrition and will feel really good and be past the malaise that has consumed me so far this month.

| Is it time for the Spring Breakup yet? |
I have a loose training goal for this summer -- a late summer (or early fall, depending on how things work out) trail 100. I'd like to line up feeling fit and trained rather than slobby and lazy. Maybe then I won't get overuse injuries in a matter of hours.

Taped to my miserably enormous flat screen computer monitor at *work* is this question:
"If I repeat today's actions 365 times, will I be where I want to be in a year?"
I try to avoid making eye contact with that question on days when I know the answer is Nuh-unh.
You've got a solid plan and the follow through to make it happen. That trail run is gonna cry when it sees you. (in a good way)
That's very wise. You are very thoughtful by the way.
I'm giving up beer too. Dammit.
I had some pain and a bit of swelling on the front of my ankle after Javelina. It was really sore for 2 days then just sort of went away. When I asked a Dr. friend he said there is a small muscle that crosses in front of your ankle it must have got tendinitis or pissed. I am sure yours will heal fast. I iced the shit out of it and put Volarten gel on it 2 times a day. Gone in 5 days.
Tiss the season for dropping the booze. I too have given up wine for the build phase of my training.
Sorry to hear your ankles are still bothering you. I had a bit of tendon pain along the side of my feet for the first weeks after the Susitna, but it has mostly gone away now.
I'm still hoping to visit Montana this summer, and hope you're around to swing some hikes in Glacier. Too bad you can't go to North Dakota for the Mah Da Hey trip. It seems I'll be able to make that one happen. But you should definitely come down to the Bay area to visit us, once you're off your alcohol fast. We can visit that place with the giant fruit drinks. Should cheer you right up. :)
I can't wait to hear which trail 100 you set your sights on, Danni. With proper training, you will absolutely rock it!
@Titanium: Wow, what a quote. I'm copying it onto a post-it note right now for my own monitor. :)

Thanks, Danni and Jenny.
1) um, not lame. not lame at all.
2) dude, 40 hours is a lot of hours of use! at least in my book.
hope you're feeling better soon, and good luck w/the nutrition plan.

Ronda I am now icing the crap out of them in hopes that works some magic. I hope it's not too late.
Jill that would be fun. You're sweet to go to the Tonga Room with me (if it hasn't closed, I heard it was going to). I love that place :p
Thanks Kate. Jenny I taped that to my desk too. And, I don't want to say which 100 because I'm not really sure whether I will have an entry.
Ugh Mary you know my pain!
