Happy Holidays Cyberpeeps!

Are you interested in what we have been up to these past couple of weeks?  No?  Well I'll tell you anyhow.

1.  Trying to ski despite disappointingly sparse snowpack.

2.  Driving our new giant truck that has replaced our Subaru.  Much like my interest in the Su 100, my interest in driving a truck started out as a joke but somehow became a reality.

3.  Holiday gluttony.  This morning my girlfriends and I ran to the donut shop and ate donuts.  We did get 4 miles in though.  Tomorrow will be an eggnog day.  Tonight Ted and I are baking cookies (though it's like baking with a toddler where Ted made the dough and will probably do everything while I hover around stealing dough and such).

4.  Rhino figured out finally that he can leap over the fence without much trouble.  Sigh.  We will be doing some fencing, which is always fun during the winter when the ground is frozen.  We need to make our yard like the Supermax Prison I toured in Wisconsin before it opened.  Impossible to dig out, jump over or otherwise outsmart.

5.  This weekend we head out east to visit Ted's family and celebrate Christmas.  We are both looking forward to seeing everyone.  The dogs are probably not looking forward to being boarded.

6.  I am working on playlists.  One for my friend in South Dakota who has a big marathon coming up, and one for me and Jill for Su training.  They may end up being the same playlist.

7.  Playing with my Christmas presents, which I have already recieved because I'm spoiled and because they're fun toys to play with (e.g. an iPad, SPOT tracker...)

8.  Billing the last hours of the years.  Or hoping to.  This diversion is probably not condusive to achieving that end.  I am such a procrastinator.  Nothing is fun unless done at the last minute?  Like, cramming as much work as possible into the last few days of the year while normal people are enjoying their holiday?

9.  Remembering that I still have some Christmas shopping to do but have no idea what to get for people.  Still.  Just a few days before Christmas.  If I was super rich I would buy iPads and SPOT trackers for everyone.  And giant trucks maybe.  Though that obviously demonstrates a hatred for the Earth that I have to mitigate by not buying everyone giant trucks.  If it's just me with one it's ok, right?

10.  Celebrating the solstice and the fact that the days will now get longer.  Light between 8:30 and 4:30 isn't really a lot of daytime...

Well folks, there you have it.  Exciting stuff indeed.  I suspect it will be a little while before I blog again because I won't be able to roll myself to the computer after the holidays have ended.  Actually, I've been fairly good about mitigating the damage I do during this time of year.  I will just be relaxing and not doing the sorts of things people are willing to read about.  Enjoy your holidays, whatever you celebrate, if anything!  If nothing else, enjoy the time off from work if you get any time off from work.

Yay for a playlist! It will be very weird to race with headphones, but I'm willing to give it a try. Perhaps some Pet Shop Boys will find their way on there ... I was randomly singing them yesterday. Ha!

Ah, Rhino. Perhaps an electric fence/collar project? That's what we had to do to contain the husky and the beagle on our two acres.

My brother is a guard at a Supermax prison and even he can't keep a beagle from running away. :)

Happy holidays to you! And I want that playlist too! I'm thinking that my first postpartum runs next month will desperately require an inspirational soundtrack.

the snow for XC is great but I try not to gloat too much because the backcountry skiers will kill me. They don't have enough. I need a playlist too. And a Spot Tracker. And...

Gifts: Lucky you! Hitting both the fun and practical categories.

Snow has been sparse in mid-CO as well, and I've not been willing to brave the inane I-70 traffic for groomers.

1. You got an iPad. I'm jealous.

2. It made me giggle when you likened making cookies with you to making cookies with a toddler. I can just picture it.

3. Um, what's wrong with running to a donut shop? I used to all the time run to Dairy Queen with my friend Becky in high school. I seriously have no idea how we managed to run home after eating Blizzards.

4. Happy Christmas, Festivus, Kwanzaa, etc., etc.!

Having hard time picturing you and a truck, but not hard time picturing truck where you live. You might need it. i-Pad? You succumbed! Actually I never knew if you tried to stand against to begin with, but I am:) Larry is one making cookies in my family. I don't steal dove, I just try to not be there so I don't gain the other 10 lbs on top of those I already gained. Sigh...it's the holiday season, indeed. Have a good one! Lucky me, I refuse to buy x-mas presents or get some, so no headache for me!

Yay, you finally got your dream truck. I can only smile picturing you driving a huge sedan-squasher around Kalispell.

Not a bad day in Anchorage right now. 20 degrees and cloudy. We're going to put our sleds together and test them out on Hillside trails in the afternoon. I supposed to be "working" right now but I'm completely distracted by all that snow outside. I'm more excited about the Su100 now than ever. Can't wait to hear the training mp3 mix!

Could you build Rhino a dog-run for containment until the ground is less frozen? That's how I contain my crazy escape artist husky but he spends more time either inside or hiking than in the yard.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
--let's see that truck!
--tee hee! cracks me up that you already got all your presents.
--you totally DESERVE donuts if you ran four miles.
--if it's any consolation, Joe's in the same billing boat. Grrrr. And it's like everyone else at his firm is just coasting into the new year, enjoying their holidays and time off while he sits there billing. No. Fun. At. All. (Upside of getting fired? No billing for me!) : )
--you always think your life posts are boring but they never are.

Go enjoy your toys!

oh and I almost forgot: I really hop you share the playlist!

do I correct "hop" to "hope", or will it look weird to leave 3 comments in a row?

nope, gotta correct it for sure.
