(photo by Buf, shamelessly lifted from crossfit blog)
Normally, when the workout for the next morning is something along the lines of "row 5k" I skip the workout and run instead. Last night I forgot to check the crossfitflathead blog and failed to see that "row 5k" was on the menu. Ugh. Can you see how much I was not loving it in this picture? I sucked at it too. I was the last to finish and finally floated to the dock in 24:xx -- even now I could run faster than that. Despite all this whining, the truth is the workout was excellent crosstraining and I secretly enjoy it. . . in hindsight. Crossfit is really good for me I think, both physically and mentally. There are things in life other than running. It makes me stronger. It reminds me that I have to work hard at athletic stuff to avoid embarassing myself.
And maybe when tricked into doing stuff that isn't running I might not mind it all that much.

I still consider Backcounty Skiing my 'crossfit'...but no-one has to trick me into it...more like talk me back into running...
Enjoy your workouts...there must be something to this crossfit stuff, as everyone who gets into it rave about the results...
You?
Keith
I'd love to try Crossfit. It's only offered at one place here and it's not convenient...I bet you're getting ripped! What a nice break from all of the high-mileage.
Well once we get snow I'll be out XC skiing -- so far I do think I'm getting a little stronger and we're learning boxing which is always fun. If I meet a bear on the trail I'll give it a mean right hook.
Allie, I hope that after awhile I have some visible muscle :p I hope to be ripped!
I think rowing's great. We kiwis are mad keen rowers, canoes, rowboats, rafts, you name it, if you can find an object that floats, we'll attach an oar to it and row. It's one of the few sports we do not completely suck at.
Cheers, Paul
You crack me up. Awesome job and I love the "floated to the dock"...that was funny. I can run some the trails I mountain bike on faster....sounds crazy. Good job on the other than running stuff. I think it makes running seem easy. :0
I secretly wish I could afford crossfit in time and money for myself. So, consider me jealous:)
I can see the Kiwis as good rowers. In fact, I can see you as a rower Paul!
Ronda you are queen of cross-training open-mindedness. I am inspired by you. And I'm going to try your eating thing next week.
Olga, consider me jealous of you for a whole host of reasons!
