I need to heat train for Western States. . .

Sunday Ted and I took the pups for a hike to Strawberry Lake. The dogs were so happy to find snow to burrow in.
The lake was also extremely pleasing to the dogs. I wore my Vibram Five Fingers on the hike and found them to be wonderful -- and great for the lake. However, my feet did get cold standing in the snow. They are not a winter shoe.

I am getting insanely excited for Western States. For one thing, I can't wait to see Cheryl. It has been a year! Second, it will be fun to see all my other runner friends out there. Third, THE RACE OMG OMG OMG OMG! It has been too long since I've experienced that level of fatigue and exhaustion. Also, afterwards we get to hang with the Joanna/Kale family and the David/Ellen family. Old friends cant't be beat.

Also, I can't remember if I told you, not that you necessarily care, but my number for WS is #163.

You'll deal with heat when it comes to you. Drink, take salt, eat. You'll be fine:)

You have the funniest heat training technique ever - shorts and t-shirt in the snow! I'll echo Olga's comments, you'll be fine.

Beyond the heat factor, you will have a great race. Danni, you are one of those runners who has inspired me to train all season long. Whenever I felt sluggish in New Zealand I would check your blog to see you doing some crazy snow workout in the middle of a Montana winter and I knew I had no excuses.

See you in a few short days! OMG OG OMG.

Your title and photo made me laugh! Don't worry - it was snowing in Bozeman the week before Nikki won WS! :) You've come such a long way since I first met you at the Swan Mountain run. Naturally you've heard Brad's directing MT's first 100 miler, right? Should be gorgeous... Ironically, I'll be in Montana while you're having your fantastic experience in California. Good luck, Danni.

Thanks Ronda! I will be thinking about your HR and think "at least I'm not at 14,000 feet!"

Will do Olga.

Thanks Em! Man, I will be thinking about you when I need inspiration and strength.

Kate, I owe you an email! I am a bad friend. I just wanted you to know that I remembered yesterday.

Paul you are going to have a phenomenal race! Save me a beer at the finish line.

Thanks Kendra! Yeah, I plan to volunteer at the SC100. Sounds like a neat race. You thinking about running it? :-)

So good to see you back in the blogosphere :-)
