HIKING WEEKEND

Friday night at Kim's new house Eric and I were discussing how fun it would be to ski in July. Having heard that you can ski at Logan Pass in July, we headed up with our gear. However, we were, as the Ranger said, about a week too late. Instead we hiked on the Highline Trail in Glacier National Park and saw this guy (above).

An early portion of the Highline sports cables and cliffs. It wasn't as scary as it might look.

The Highline is a really easy hike with great views. You're just above the Going to the Sun Road however so you hear all the traffic and car noise. Also, because it's easy and scenic it's busy.

Today Erin, a friend I met at Crossfit, and I hiked in the Jewel Basin. We hiked up Mount Aeneas, which is a great hike with incredible views and furry friends.

Even though it was HOT (80 degrees) on the valley floor, it was very cool and windy on top of the mountain. Very pleasant.

I just loved the baby mountain goat. Really cute to watch these guys. Poor baby got disciplined though at one point, which involved a rather firm nudge by mom.

Summers here are pretty great. Even if you can't ski. I got my money's worth this weekend.

In other news, I'm really focusing on cleaning up my diet. This is day #2 of "better eating" (I don't want to go overboard and claim to eat really super well) and hopefully it will rid some of that stuff in the middle and whatnot. If my trial scheduled for that same week settles I hope to run the San Francisco One Day in October and it would help to be a lean mean. . . something machine.
Ted spent the weekend working :( He's super busy but happy.

wuI'll be arriving in Kali the 26th. If I'm not a complete nervous wreck, want to get together for dinner (or a short run or hike?)
Hey Iris. Dinner would work. I may go to Canadia this weekend but have to be home by 6 pm anyhow so yeah :-)
you are so lucky! A mountain goat and bighorn sheep in one weekend, very nice. We get coyotes, elk, deer and a very rare bear but not goats and no sheep :(.
Can't wait to hear more about your clean eating. I hope it all goes well and you like it.
Oooh yeah. You need to come visit and compare and contrast National Parks. Time for some Banff summery goodness, perhaps?
Thanks Ronda. You are one of my inspirations -- I know you are pretty meticulous in your eating. Or at least I imagine you are.
Yup Les I need to compare and contrast. And be motivated by your hubby's self-discipline when it comes to food.
